This weekend was a four day holiday weekend for us. Unfortunately, production is a little behind right now, (orders are steady; that's good), so I joined a small group that worked on Friday. We started early so Lori, Matthew, and I still had time to walk to Summertown for coffee and spend the afternoon together.
On Saturday morning, we visited the New Theatre in Oxford for a live performance of Horrible Histories: Vile Victorians. Matthew and I like the Horrible Histories television show. The show was almost two hours long, including interval (intermission), and told all of the gory details of living in 19th century Britain. The cast explained that they tell the stories of the common people that are often not taught in schools and that we should be glad that we live in this more civilized era. After the show, we spent the rainy afternoon shopping for some bits of clothing and had coffee at Costa (we need Costa Coffe in the U.S.). Saturday evening was spent at home playing games and spending some quiet time as a family.
Resurrection Sunday, also known as Easter, we attended church at Oxford Bible Church in Headington (not too far from the shark). Church was packed with people from all nations and the praise and worship wonderful. The children sang a Hillsongs worship song sans music. Matthew announced the song; his first time using a microphone, and the kids sounded like a well-practiced choir. I have photos and a video but can't post them as posting pictures of minors is a crime here in the U.K. Pastor Derek used the lyrics of the hymn Amazing Grace, and the story of the composer to demonstrate the miraculous saving grace of our God through Jesus Christ. The kingdom is heaven is a free gift for any and all of us because HE IS ALIVE!
After church, we drove to Kenilworth Castle for our third visit to see the knights competing. Matthew cheered for the Black and Blue knights even though I think the Red and Yellow Knights were supposed to win since Sir George was the leader of the Red Knights and Sunday was Saint George's Day. The actors and musicians did a great job portraying 15th century England as they lived in their tents retro-style and explained how people lived so many centuries ago.

Today we will attempt to visit the local park to play on the brand new equipment but the rain may keep us at home. Rainy day ideas, anyone?
